In keeping with the company motto of Excellence in Assessment™, our psychometric staff operate under a simple philosophy: understand clearly what the client needs, work diligently to exceed those needs, and do it right the first time. Our psychometricians work to ensure that all assessment materials are statistically sound and legally defensible. In doing so, we use industry standard software packages (SAS, WINSTEPS, etc.) as well as develop our own software in-house. We offer a full range of psychometric services and analyses, including operational test design, equating, scaling, classical item analysis, IRT analysis, differential item functioning, standard setting, alignment studies, and reliability and validity analyses.
MI’s Psychometric Services Department is overseen by Dr. Michael Bunch, Senior Vice President of Research and Development, an expert in large-scale assessment who is internationally recognized as an authority in standard setting. Dr. Bunch co-authored Standard Setting (Sage, 2007), currently the primary reference source for practitioners and scholars throughout the world.
Dr. Craig Deville, Director of Psychometric Services, leads the department of 11 full-time psychometricians and research analysts, all of whom are actively involved as presenters and discussants in national professional organizations such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME).
