MI Team Member Authors Second Book for Children

Kendra Timberlake

Author and MI employee, Kendra Timberlake, has published a second book for children. Wild-Haired Poet was inspired by her daughter’s quirky and fun personality and a desire to provide meaningful social-emotional learning resources to students.

Kendra’s first book, Where’s Poppi?, was published in 2021. She recalls being inspired to write her first book after her dad passed away. Kendra shared, “My son, Zion, was three years old at the time and persistently asked questions about death and dying. Our journaled conversations later became the foundation for my first book, which centered around his most common question.”

Kendra has been working for MI since 1985 and has held several roles during her tenure. Currently, she delivers strategic account management and training services to MI Write clients. She said, “My goal is to understand the needs of each client and help them reach their district or school writing goals by ensuring they leverage the MI Write platform to its fullest potential.”

Kendra holds a BA in Communications Studies and an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, with a concentration in Educational Psychology. She regularly volunteers to read to and deliver social-emotional learning lessons to students in grades K–5.
