Research Psychometrician

Key Responsibilities

As a research psychometrician, you will:

  • Independently perform various psychometric analyses using both CTT and IRT methods (such as item calibration, equating, scaling, item and test analyses, DIF analysis, etc.) to meet key dates and deadlines
  • Produce high-quality technical reports that meet the contractual specifications
  • Lead, design and conduct research projects to support MI’s strategic objectives and communicate the findings to different audiences
  • Provide expert advice on research studies and psychometric best practices

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or advanced doctoral candidacy in psychometrics, educational measurement/assessment, statistics, or related fields
  • Working knowledge of test equating, scaling, concordance, validity, and reliability
  • Capability of independently conducting psychometric and statistical analyses
  • A proven track of research, presentations and publications
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., R, Python, and/or SAS) and excellent data management skills with large-scale data
  • Experiences with psychometric software programs such as WINSTEPS, PARSCALE, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work on various tasks and projects
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience with large-scale assessment programs
  • Prior experience with computerized tests (e.g., CAT and/or MST)

Salary Range

The full-time salary is between $80,000 - $130,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
