Make the American Rescue Plan work for YOU!

It's a Hard Time to Be a Student
It's a fact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a substantial impact on students over the last 18 months.

Impacts on students

From school closures and remote learning to the lack of access to the internet and devices, not to mention absences due to infections or exposures, students have not been able to attend, participate, and be engaged with school consistently since March 2020. Targeted instruction, small group intensive tutoring, and extended school days are among the recommendations to help students get back on track, but they can be expensive and difficult to implement until schools return to full-time in-person learning1. We've also learned in this time just how important social-emotional health is as well2.  All things considered, our students are doing what they can, but we still have a long way to go to get them back on track.

The Government Steps In
In March of this year, President Biden signed The American Rescue Plan which provides financial support for schools to address the multitude of issues created and exacerbated by the pandemic, including the substantial loss of learning. This plan emphasizes the importance to address both academic and social-emotional needs of students as we realize how significantly the pandemic has impacted the social-emotional health of us all. The money given to each state is also available to support physical and personnel infrastructure that will provide the spaces and the teachers to safely bring students back into the classrooms because there's nothing like learning in the classroom.

Include MI Write in Your Plan
Students can demonstrate their comprehension through writing better than any multiple choice test. To check in with where they currently are, simply get them to write about it! Teach your lessons using videos, worksheets, practice sets, etc., and then have them write about the same topic again. Comparing the two samples will give you a clear idea of their learning process and you'll be better able to determine what your students need. That's where MI Write comes in!

MI Write is powered by PEG, the most researched AI scoring engine, and is currently being used in a large research project funded by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Students receive support from MI Write through unlimited writing practice, immediate and personalized feedback, and recommended lessons, all of which help close learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
